Lambing has started! A set of twins last night (one of each) and then another set this afternoon (one of each again). The lambs are a good size (last night's were both 13 pounds) and vigorous. Looking forward to the next few weeks!

The rams actually went in on October 30th, but the sun is finally shining and things are drying up, so I thought I'd go out with the camera and take some pictures today. I managed to get this nice picture of Jerome JDS23B...before my battery died. Sure love the length on this boy. He's being bred to two groups of purchased ewe lambs this fall. I'll try and get out and get some more shots of the other ram we are using - a new ram lamb from Lynette Kreddig of Franklyn Farms. Very much looking forward to next year's lamb crop.

This has been the easiest lambing I can remember. Every single ewe lambed without assistance, they all have plenty of milk and are attentive mothers. The lambs all had great weights and are vigourous. Most of the ewe lambs are spoken for. I will go through the ram lambs as they grow and pick out a few good ones for registered breeding stock. The rest will go for butcher.

What a great start to this year's lambing. We had two beautiful 9 1/2 pound ewe lambs born last night by ram VVV9A and out of ewe NAY482B. The weather is beautiful - perfect for lambing. Looking forward to what the other girls have, and by the looks of things, won't have to wait too long!

Everyone was vaccinated today. I checked feet as well, but they were all in great condition so no trimming needed - which makes me very happy! Everyone is in great condition. Looking forward to lambing in 4 weeks.
